Hey, y'all! As a film major in college, I studied movies. I love the experience of getting out of the house, going to the theater, getting hot popcorn, and sitting down with my man or friends to see a movie.
However, there's something intimate and special about the experience of watching TV, in the comfort of your own home. I watch a lot of TV shows with my husband and my mom, and it's a special experience for me. Here are #MyTop5 favorite TV series ever.
5. Shameless
Raw, real, off-the-wall hilarious. This is one of those shows that could only exist on a premium cable network, like Showtime, its home. Emmy Rossum is the real lead of this show, and she's wonderful as Fiona, the eldest sister of a loud, crazy Chicago family. I watch this with my husband and my mom, and it's always a good time.
4. Desperate Housewives
I just love this show! Marc Cherry's masterpiece lives on as one of my favorite shows ever, years after its end. I watched every episode with my mom, so it's special to me. The strong ensemble cast is one for the TV history books, but my favorite will always be Eva Longoria as Gaby.
3. Sex and the City
Iconic? Let's talk about iconic! SATC permeated pop culture more than any other show on this list, and even inspired Desperate Housewives. College courses are taught on this show. Seriously! I even named my cat after the lead character, Carrie. Haven't seen it? Go watch it.
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm
Another nugget of pure HBO gold, and my favorite non-reality show on television. All dialog on this show is improvised, and seasoned comedians round out the ensemble cast. It's hilarious, unpredictable, and very real, despite sometimes taking extreme routes. Larry David is the premier living comedy genius in Hollywood. I really hope they make another season.
1. RuPaul's Drag Race
A reality show that never truly ends! The endearing personalities of the cast and judges live on after each season ends, through social media and endless live gigs across the world. RuPaul is one of #MyTop5 favorite singers of all-time, and one of my favorite celebrities in general, so this show is a must-see for me. My husband, mom, and I eagerly await every new episode.
