This blog has always been about “Beauty for Everybody.” This, of course, includes those from the trans* community. In recent years, trans* people have enjoyed much more acceptance and media representation. However, you may have heard about the recent efforts from conservative lawmakers to force trans* individuals to use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.
Target has taken a stand for their trans* employees and customers by publicly stating that they will allow all people to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity.
Bigots and skeptics are wrongfully claiming this will give pedophiles and other lowlifes free license to commit crimes in the bathroom of their choice. Some even think CIS men (CIS is a term for people whose experiences of their own gender agree with the sex they were assigned at birth) will “dress up” as trans* women. Oh, please. News flash: Crime is still illegal, and letting a trans* woman use the women’s bathroom does not mean a CIS man, regardless of clothing, can use it.
It’s also important to note that there is no record of any trans* person committing bathroom misconduct.
